Senior Software Engineer

Location: Nottingham (Remote and Flexible Working)

Salary: Up to £80,000 + strong benefits package

A fintech startup on a mission to shake up the industry is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to pioneer the next generation of cloud-hosted microservice applications. Founded by a team of industry veterans, the business is backed by solid funding; so this isn’t just another job, this is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor and join the company in their growth!

You will lead the charge in Agile Software Development, from ideation to deployment.  You will optimize end-to-end systems for speed, scale, and resilience.  You will dive deep into C# .Net Core 6 on Microsoft Azure, shaping their tech stack for the future.  You will also collaborate with top-tier engineers to craft bulletproof APIs and infrastructure.

Back End C# Software Engineer

Role: Back End C# Software Engineer

Location & Working Model: Office in Manchester. Fully remote working model with the only caveat being that if you are needed in the office for a meeting, etc. you are happy to go in, but this happens very sporadically.

Salary: up to £50k plus benefits and bonus.

Are you mad about animals?  Have you been having a woof time of it at work recently?

If you answered ‘yes’ to these two questions (and don’t mind my terrible wordplay!), read on…

I’m working with a household name of an employer that is all about our animal buddies and I’m looking for a backend developer for them, hopefully, that’s you.

Tech-wise, you’ll be ace with C#, .Net 7+, Cosmos DB, SQL, etc.   You’ll work in a cross-functional team of front-end developers, back-end developers, and QA testers, doing some cool things.

Your team is helping to deliver a complete rewrite, from the ground up so it would be greenfield work of the company’s web platform and bringing it back in-house from a 3rd party who created it initially, that is no longer fit for purpose.

They are around a year into their journey with this, and to aid them in getting where they need to be, you’ll predominantly be working on APIs, some integration work, CI/ CD, unit testing, etc.

The people you’ll be working alongside are not only great at what they do, they are good, friendly, animal lovers who laugh with each other. If you ever decide to go into the office, they’ll likely have lots of pets running around!

If this role sounds great to you, apply now, or drop me a line to hear more!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

Senior TypeScript Developer

Role:  Senior TypeScript Developer (node, vue, AWS)

Location:  Office in Nottingham, up to fully remote working, pretty much whatever you’d prefer. Some people never go in, and some go in on Mondays and Wednesdays, but it’s not mandatory whatsoever!

Salary:  Around £60-70k plus benefits

You’re a great TypeScript Developer and you’ve got loads of experience in different industries, and you now want to apply that to a super interesting role in a relatively niche sector that is helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the world.

If this sounds like you, read on!

You’ll be working in a cross-functional team of 7 developers, 3 QA, 3 AWS Cloud Engineers, a firmware engineer, a UX chap, and a Project Manager.

Nobody here is siloed, and as such, you’ll be getting stuck across both of their flagship applications. They use full stack TypeScript predominantly, with node on the backend, Vue on the front end, and AWS for cloud infrastructure. They do some 3D modelling so if you’ve used 3.js, that could be really useful, not essential!

They have been moving away from the PHP in their estate for the last few years but there is still a bit of it in there that you’ll have to interact with a little bit. It’s PHP8, so any background in PHP would be very useful.

You’ll have some leadership experience, on projects and doing some mentoring of juniors/ mids, and be a fabulous communicator!

Importantly, you will be an eager beaver when it comes to code reviews and you’ll have a head for innovation: being able to take a project spec and translate it into a consistent application, with user-visual optimisation!

The interview process is 3 stages: a screening call, 90 minute tech test, 30 minute final chat to go through the test.

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

GREENTECH Software Engineer

Role: GREENTECH Software Engineer – TypeScript, Node, React

Location: Office in Cambridge

Salary: Up to £44K plus benefits

Are you looking for a way to use your software development skills to benefit the planet?

How would you feel about telling your friends and family that what you do helps countries and their governments to implement green policies that truly help the planet with things like protecting endangered animals and clean water?

If that sounds like something you would care deeply about, read on- this one’s for you.

You are a full-stack TypeScript developer who is great with Node, React, and Azure. Around 95% of the codebase you will be working with is written in TypeScript.

You have at least a couple of years of experience in a commercial setting and are ready to take what you’ve learned and apply it to something that really matters. Something you believe in. something that will help the planet for decades to come.

In this role, you’ll be working for a UK-based charity, in a very friendly and diverse team of around 30 people, including several senior devs for you to learn from. They have people from all over the world, including Ireland, Spain, France, Cameroon, Italy, etc. This isn’t your normal development setup, you’ll be working alongside biologists and other domain-specific people, in addition to the usual mix of project managers, devs, QA, etc.

You’ll need to be in the Cambridge office twice per month, on the last Tuesday and Wednesday of every month. If you’d like to go in more often than that, you’re welcome to!

The interview process for this role is:

·       1st stage panel interview with 3 people from your prospective team

·       Tech test (1 week to complete)

·       Final stage interview to discuss the test results

If this sounds right up your street, apply now, or drop me a line to find out more!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

Conservation Business Development Lead

Role: Business Development Lead – Nature & Conservation

Location: Cambridge, UK – Hybrid

Salary: £46k-£58k

It’s not often that you go home with a warm fuzzy feeling that you’ve done good in the world, especially when you work at the sharp end of sales and business development. Instead, you build relationships and sell products or services that don’t resonate with you but make huge profits for shareholders.

Not exactly what your mum had in mind when she told you that you would change the world…right?

Well, here’s a chance to not only put a smile on your mum’s face but to make a huge difference to our planet and the countless plants and animals that are often put in harm’s way whenever human beings look to ‘develop’ our environment and potentially devastate fragile ecosystems.

This organisation exists to protect vulnerable species from the impact of human development. They do so through developing cutting-edge technology that allows private sector businesses to measure the impact of their development activity on ecosystems, and demand for their services is rapidly increasing as (thankfully) more and more private sector businesses take their obligation toward the environment and conversation seriously.

This role is a new position created to assist the organisational growth as they look to engage and win contracts with more private sector businesses worldwide.

A team will assist you as you identify, engage and convert leads and raise the organisation’s core product profile through effective sales, marketing and communications activities.

However, this isn’t a cut-throat, KPI-driven sales role. It is a broad, qualitative-focused business development role. You will add value in various ways, from reviewing their current CRM tooling and strategy to attending conferences and events to raise the organisation’s profile generally.

You will follow up on leads, prospect for new opportunities and undertake presentations and pitches to businesses across the renewables, mining, finance/banking and ‘soft’ commodities (food, fashion etc.) industries.

You will have a proven track record in a sales and business development role and a demonstrable passion for sustainability and conservation – this is vital.

You may have worked for another not-for-profit organisation in a community engagement or business development role or will come from a commercial background selling enterprise software or similar complex, solutions.

You comprehend purchasing processes within larger businesses and will have exceptional written and spoken English for delivering high-profile client presentations.

As this is working for a not-for-profit organisation there will be no bonuses, but you can expect a salary between £46k-£58k and generous benefits including a 12% pension scheme, life assurance and 25 days holiday.

The role will be largely remote-based, but you will be expected to spend at least 3 days a month (consecutively) working from Cambridge.

If you are interested, please apply, ideally writing a short cover note explaining why you are interested in working within conservation!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

Warehouse Automation Engineer

Role: Warehouse Automation Engineer

Location: Derby, UK

Salary: Up to £50k

Robots. You love them. No, not the red-eyed, murderous laser shooting type; the ones that make global warehousing and logistic operations tick over smoothly.

You’ve worked in environments where people have come to you when there’s an issue with the machinery, hardware or software underpinning these systems.

You’ll have been part of a team that has implemented such automation solutions into your employer or you will have done so for external customers. As an engineer at heart, you’ll know exactly how such automation solutions need to be implemented and integrated into WMS to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.

You’ll be used to analysing requirements for warehouse automation/robotics, implementing hardware and software, undertaking preventative maintenance, troubleshooting technical problems and providing training to users.

In a nutshell, you know your shizzle when it comes to warehousing automation.

In this role, you will be the company’s UK specialist super user when it comes to warehouse automation systems, so you will need previous experience working within a similar engineering role.

You will be given lots of training and support from the company’s expert European team and will spend some time with them learning best practices from your European peers.

This company is on a crazy growth trajectory in the UK, with above-expected growth and lots of opportunities for people to develop their careers.

Unlike other large businesses in their sector, they aren’t held back by red tape and instead operate a can-do culture where people work together to solve problems in a highly supportive and empowering, international culture.

The role will be site-based in Derby and is offering up to £50k base plus 25 days holiday and a 5% pension.

Please apply for immediate consideration and a guaranteed reply for UK-based applicants.

Does the word ERP excite you? Do you have a background in finance? If so, read on!  If you have worked in a finance department using ERP systems and are looking for a new challenge, this could be the perfect role for you.

You will be client-facing so communication skills are a must. As well as being able to read between the lines and offer support where required.

You will be involved in working on a variety of full implementation projects as well as supporting projects which require ad hoc requests. You’ll also be providing training courses to the client and departments on how to use the system.

The great thing about this role is the variety in the position and each day is different. You will be the master of your own diary and will be meticulous with your planning. You will be fully supported in the role, and you will be given an excellent training program when you start the role.

You will have a passion for directing and working on projects and will have the opportunity to oversee the whole project. You will need to ensure that project plans are completed and will be able to prioritise your workload. • Meticulous
  • Strong organisational skills
  • An interest in software products and technical concepts

Full Stack TypeScript Software Engineer

Role: Full Stack TypeScript Software Engineer

Salary: Up to £70K

Location: Fully remote/ remote first.

Would you like to use your tech skills to help reduce the damaging impact of transportation on the climate crisis?   Then this role and company might just well be what you’ve been looking for!

I am looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer, with a specialism in TypeScript (Node) and web development, with Python and Data being strong desirables for the role.

You will be going into a small, but growing, company and team: there are a few developers there currently and around 15-20 people in the company. They are a talented and caring bunch of people from diverse backgrounds, who love what they do and believe strongly in the company’s mission.

Data IS the company’s product. They use it to augment behaviours within the transportation sector to reduce fuel costs and usage: helping the companies they work with to save money and, most importantly, to have a significant, positive impact on the environment.

Due to the nature of the business, having a strong passion for data would be a major advantage! SQL skills around data modelling, CRUD ops, etc would be really useful.

As they are a start-up, they have virtually no tech debt, their projects are greenfield: making this a veritable utopia for developers! They always endeavour to improve a system before building new features on it: something that I’ve not seen lots of other companies do, and that I think speaks volumes about their general approach to their tech – sustainability, efficiency, and scalability are paramount.

To give you an idea of what you can expect to be doing in this role: you will, amongst other things, be tasked with the Design, build, and maintenance of multiple parts of the product, including their customer-facing web app, backend systems, databases, microservices, third-party APIs, and servers in the cloud.

It would be really useful if you’ve worked in a cloud environment previously, with DevOps processes in place: taking part in interacting with the cloud, and using CI/ CD pipelines for deployment through to production. It doesn’t matter which cloud you’ve used before- GCP/ Azure or AWS, but they use AWS, so this would be the most pertinent for this role.

They like to have good debates and technical conversations around best practices and how they can continuously improve how they do things, so if you’re the type of person to have strong views on these kinds of things- with enough humility to have your mind changed and accept where other peoples’ ideas might be a better solution for the problem at hand- then you’ll fit right in!

They all work fully remotely, so you’ll need to be happy and able to comfortably work from home. They do like to socialise though! So, in-person meetup suggestions- perhaps in a hot desk environment or a meeting for a coffee- would be welcomed.

If this sounds right up your street, please get in touch to find out more, or apply today!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

Tech Lead

Role:  Tech Lead – TypeScript, AWS

Location:  Office in Leicestershire. Hybrid working model of 1-2 days per week in the office, the rest is working from home.

Salary:  Up to £95k plus bonus and benefits

You’ve got bags of passion and experience not only in creating excellent technical solutions but also in turning teams around.   You take all their bad habits and introduce great ones.  You coach, you mentor, you inspire.

Bringing all of this knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to the fore, this role will challenge you in the best way and be so rewarding.

I am working exclusively with a fabulous tech company that enriches the lives of the people it serves: the incredible people who protect the community.

I am looking for you: someone who is exceptionally skilled with technology and leading teams.  For you, best practice around software engineering and cloud engineering is your de facto way of doing things:  You can turn your hand to whatever problem you encounter because you have the fundamentals down to a tee.

Experience-wise, you have been in teams where they have been using waterfall-y ways of product development, working with monolithic architectures, messy code bases, and unhelpful silos. You have been pivotal in turning those teams around to use iterative, Agile ways of working, especially continuous development (CD) practices, and fostered a collaborative culture of bringing people from product/ development/ QA, etc. together to reduce release lead times and catch potential issues/ bugs before they become problematic.

Most importantly of all, you’ve inspired a culture of curiosity- experimenting, iterating, and improving how your team do things, from finding and fixing bugs, to how they develop and implement new features.

In this role, you’ll be doing this all again in an environment that’s open and hungry for positive change!

You will technically be leading a team of 5 engineers, alongside a Product Manager, and will be very hands-on with around half your time spent on development and architecture, and the other half of your time spent in planning sessions, coaching the team, doing code reviews, building a team and architecture roadmap, etc.

If this sounds right up your street, apply today, or drop me a line to find out more!

Junior Front End Developer

Role: Junior Front End Developer

(React & JavaScript)

Location: Nottingham, hybrid 1 / 2 days in the office.

Salary: £27k to £35k + 10% bonus

The first couple of years of your development career are the foundation of what makes you who you are. You must rub shoulders with senior / lead engineers, inevitability absorbing all their knowledge and experience that will make you into a formidable front-end guru!

I have just the role that will cement the foundations of your career with what just so happens to be one of my all-time favourite companies to recruit for; a cracking company to work for who really value their staff.

I’m looking for a junior front-end developer to join a wonderful small-medium-sized company in the North of Nottingham. I would also consider fresh graduates who have completed 12 months of industrial placement during their degree providing it was in a dedicated front-end role.

What will this role entail?

You will be part of an agile team working across different sub-departments to ensure high-quality user interfaces, determining the structure and design of web pages whilst striking a balance between functional and aesthetic design. This also includes taking part in the creation of intuitive, customer-focused web applications for a wide range of users.

They have 3 product development teams, using different tech, ranging from C# MVC, SQL Server and Angular to .Net Core and microservices, Azure, React and JavaScript; this role will work across all 3 departments. This role is perfect for someone who has the following ticked off –

React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS experience.

At least 1 year of commercial development experience (can be part of your degree course).

Any experience in REST APIs, Azure DevOps, Test-driven development, and Agile software development would work in your favour.

Work/life balance is something they are passionate about, so they maintain a 35-hour working week, with core hours, and working from-home options to help with this. They also offer things like training budget, including Pluralsight subscriptions for engineers, and the option to upskill in different areas of business.

I could go on about them, but if you’ve read this far, nodding along and with a smile on your face, then you should apply now so we can have a more in-depth chat about your new role!
