Job type: Permanent

Back End C# Software Engineer

Role: Back End C# Software Engineer

Location: Nottingham city centre, hybrid- very flexible, ideally 2 days per week in the office.

Salary: Up to £55k, depending on experience.

Have you been working in a corporate hellscape for a year or two, dreaming of joining a start-up company right from the beginning where you can learn ALL THE THINGS, have built-in career progression, and ABSOLUTELY NO LEGACY CODE?

Well, this is not a dream, this is a reality- welcome to your new role!

I have partnered with a brand new fintech start-up company, which is currently sitting at a handful of people but with an impressive network around the founders, consisting of industry leaders with loads of knowledge of the fintech space. This is a great point to take note of because it mitigates a lot of the risk that would usually be associated with joining a start-up from the ground up!

They are looking for their second developer to hire, to join their CTO and senior developer.

They are sticking closely to the Microsoft web stack and solely on back-end development as the front end is taken care of, so you’ll need to have a background with the following tech to be right for this:

C#

.Net Core/6/7

Azure

SQL Server

Agile/ TDD/ best practice (SOLID, design patterns)

Whilst a solid foundation of technical skill is naturally needed for the role, your personality, communication, enthusiasm and desire to learn are going to be paramount to your success here; you’ll need to want to get stuck into anything and everything, be eager to learn loads, and have bags of ambition to be the best developer you can be!

If this sounds like what you’ve been waiting for, then apply now or drop me a line to find out more!

IT Support Analyst

Role:  IT Support Analyst

Location:  Office based 3-4 days a week, near Warwickshire/Leamington Spa

Salary:  £25k – £29k + 10% bonus, 25 days holiday, generous pension, and more

Working hours: 37.5 hours, Mon-Fri 8 am-4.30 pm.

Since a young age, you’ve always found yourself drawn to technology.  Whether it was building your PC, overengineering your home network (because you can) or even solving other people’s IT problems, often for free.

All because you love technology.

But, unlike some of your peers you know that, deep down, you are a people person at heart.

You’re probably working for an MSP on a mind-numbing service desk or in a break/fix role, doing stuff you think is child’s play.

Or if not an MSP, then maybe another structured service desk environment, but you love the idea of going somewhere with real career progression, and a chance to actually work *inside* a company, one that is part of one of the UK’s fastest-growing groups.

You’ll enjoy working here because:

  • The internal culture is legendary – they all look out for each other.
  • Your manager will push you to grow and develop your knowledge and career.
  • They are undertaking major IT work, which means for a bright thing such as yourself there will be plenty of opportunities to learn and gain exposure.
  • Everyone will love you – they are crying out for a superstar tech support to come along and make everyone’s life easier – this is absolutely not a role where you are just another number.
  • The benefits are excellent, including a 10% bonus.
  • This company employ about 400 people and has a small in-house team of IT specialists.  You will work with the IT manager to support the company’s IT needs remotely and in person.

It’s a 1st/2nd line role, so whilst you won’t be expected to deal with high-level issues (they have an outsourced partner to assist with trickier issues), you will be working very independently.

If you prefer to work in a team of IT professionals all sitting together in the same office this role won’t be for you.

You’ll be office-based four days a week in Warwickshire, but your manager will probably only be in once a week – the rest of the week you will be working under your own steam and doing on-site work with users.

You will be responsible for supporting and setting up all laptops, PCs and peripheral devices.  You’ll be supporting Azure/Active Directory, undertaking network support (WAN/LAN/Switches/Routers etc.) and doing some basic server support on-premises and in the cloud (Azure).  You’ll ideally have 2 years of experience in a commercial IT support role, with a strong, broad Microsoft background.

You will need to be able to drive to commute to their office 3-4 days a week.

On offer is a basic salary between £25k – £29k + 10% bonus, 25 days holiday, generous pension, discounted gym membership, health/life insurance and more.

Please apply for a guaranteed personal reply.

As a Network Support Engineer, you’ll be one of their heroes behind the scenes, ensuring their network thrives and thrives. Here’s what you’ll be diving into:

  • Network Ninja: Your networking expertise is second to none, with hands-on experience in a variety of real-world networks, especially with Cisco routers and switches.
  • Internet Maestro: You’re not just a network pro; you’re a wizard in internet infrastructure tech. DNS, DHCP, IPAM (bonus points if you know DDI appliances) and web caching (especially with Squid) are your domain. Or, if you’re an HTTP aficionado, we want to hear from you!

GreenTech Software Developer – JavaScript OR Ruby on Rails

Role:  GreenTech Software Developer – JavaScript OR Ruby on Rails

Location: Cambridge, flexible – quarterly office visits, maybe fully remote.

Salary:  Up to £44K (+12% pension, healthcare and more)

Biodiversity is taking a beating at the hands of human expansion.

There are lots of ways technology can be utilised to help, rather than hinder, nature and our environment to prevent mass extinctions and nature loss.

This organisation works with governments, institutes, companies, and orgs globally to build and implement solutions that improve outcomes.

From maintaining critical databases and expanding data services to delivering detailed insights and modelling. Or building tools for niche purposes, such as utilising remote sensors to track the growth of reforestation and using Geographic Information Systems to improve planning efficiency.

Governments are scrambling to understand how valuable biodiversity is and how it intersects with their economic plans, questioning whether a diverse forest is more commercially or socially valuable than an oil rig or palm oil plantation. How do you even measure that?

The aim [of the organisation] is to be more proactive in creating software and services that others can use and feed into to better deliver on their goals.

That means being more proactive in delivering software, websites, and mobile apps and coaching or supporting their somewhat junior team to avoid technical debt and reach go-live for various projects on time, enabling people to make the change that’s needed.

A lot of their projects have geospatial and mapping elements, so experience with GIS tools and PostgreSQL is handy. Their software is built with Ruby on Rails and JavaScript, VueJS and Nuxt specifically, so experience with one of those is a must. They also use Python, MySQL, GraphQL MapBox, Esri and GitHub, working in an Agile environment.

As a senior dev, you’ll have a small team of 2-6 people whom you support, depending on your preferences, coaching them and doing code reviews, pair programming and testing so they can see and learn from how you and others tackle problems.

You’ll get involved in some more complex tasks like discussions on architecture and tooling, estimations for projects, resource management, and assigning tasks within your team.

They’ll support you in your development, too. It’s not just about what you can give, they’ll ask what you need to progress too. Whether that’s paying for courses, textbooks, or conference tickets – if you think of it, they’ll consider it, genuinely.

You’ll work with scientists and researchers and all kinds of interesting stakeholders to design, build and implement tools. The people here are exceptionally passionate so will chart their own path where possible. You’ll facilitate some of that and be able to do the same.

If you’re serious about saving our planet this is definitely the role you should apply for.

What are you waiting for? ✊

C# .Net Developer

Role:  C# .Net Developer

Location:   North Nottingham, hybrid 2/ week in office.

Salary:  Up to £50k

This has to be one of my all-time favourite companies to recruit for; they are so lovely.

A long-standing client of Rebel.  This company makes me happy- they really value their staff.

I’m looking for a senior or strong mid-level C# Developer to join a wonderful small-medium-sized company in North Nottingham, just off the M1 J26.

Their beautiful offices have been done up professionally, and have barely been used, as they moved in just before Covid hit- so it would be really great for you to get in there and make yourself at home!

They have 3 product development teams, using different tech, ranging from C# MVC, SQL Server and angular to .Net Core and microservices, Azure, and react (moving to Blazor); this role is ideally going to be going into the latter team, so new shiny tech and best practice (SOLID, design patterns, you know the score) is where they are at, and what they’d like you to be proficient with.

The work you do here is needed and recognised- they are small enough that everyone knows everyone, collaborates, and generally has a great time at work. This is well-reflected in their very low staff turnover.

Work/life balance is something they are really passionate about, so they maintain a 35-hour working week, with core hours, and working from-home options to help with this. They also offer things like training budget, including Pluralsight subscriptions for engineers, and the option to upskill in different areas of business, for example, if you are a dev and want to move into QA or SysAdmin, they will support you to make that move.

They are of the mindset that human interaction and spontaneity are some traits that can’t be replaced by scheduled meetings, and since they all actually like each other, going into the office again when it’s safe to do so is something they are happy they’ve been able to get back to.

I could go on about them, but if you’ve read this far, nodding along and with a smile on your face, then apply now and we can have a more in-depth chat about your new role!

Senior C# Software Developer – Data

Role:  Senior C# Software Developer – Data

Salary:  £55-65k plus benefits

Location:  Birmingham office, flexible working hours and location. You can go into the office as much or as little as you like. The average, I would say, is 1/ month.

If not, why not?!

I love recruiting for this company, and I’m sure you’ll love working there.

I am looking for a Senior Software Developer to join a team of 4 highly proficient, friendly people, consisting of; a Team Leader, Principal Dev, and mid-level Dev, which looks after a couple of .net and Angular software products, and their data stack.

As a highly capable Software Developer and go-to person on the team, with a friendly demeanour, collaborative approach, and a straight-forward communication style, you’ll be well-versed in modern software development best practice, cloud services, a modern data stack, and high-quality solutions. This role will see you liaising with internal stakeholders to turn business requirements into fit-for-purpose software solutions and providing both full stack web-based software development, and working heavily with data pipelines doing extract, transform & load (ETL) of data from live systems into a data warehouse and data marts for analysis and reporting.

Tech-wise, you will be especially capable with the following;

  • Full stack web development – .NET 6 or greater, C#, Angular (AngularJS is not the one!), TypeScript, Azure and Azure DevOps, and SQL Server.
  • Data stack – Apache Airflow, dbt, and Snowflake.

This role would be perfect for you if you’re the kind of person who is passionate about software development, but in particular, loves a good SQL Server database! You’ll have a hankering for designing and implementing a very elegant relational database, and data models that make analysis and reporting a breeze.

You’ll be working in a cloud native (Azure) PaaS (Platform as a Service) environment where they use IaC (Infrastructure as Code) techniques and strong Agile development principles, including unit testing, integration testing, build automation, release automation, pipelines, infrastructure-as-code.

If this sounds like a great time to you, apply now, or if you want to ask some questions to learn more, drop me a line and let’s talk!

Sector – Luxury automotive (vroom vroom)

Benefits – Remote working, additional holiday, industry-leading maternity, paternity and adoption pay, enhanced long service awards, discounted car schemes, high street discounts etc.

Hello and welcome to ServiceNow fangirls! I’m working with a company currently looking for a ServiceNow administrator or specialist that has been working hands-on in a professional role for at least a year utilizing Service Now. If you are looking to up your game and finally get the recognition you deserve in this space, read on…

So, what can you expect in this role day to day?

A day in the life would be sorting through queries/tickets coming in from the service desk and knowing how to process, resolve and escalate each issue dependent on priority. Ideally, they are looking for someone who can read and write basic JavaScript and you’ll get a chocolate chip cookie if you can also use PowerShell but no worries if not. There have been a lot of integration projects recently so any exposure to Active Directory would be very helpful in this position.

What can you expect in the long term?

The reason I said earlier that they are looking for ServiceNow fans is because this role would be great for someone who longer term sees themselves becoming a ServiceNow developer. Exciting!
