Job type: Full Time

Ruby on Rails Engineer

Role:  Ruby on Rails Engineer

Location: Hybrid, Cambridge 2 days per week (ideally, maybe more flexibility)

Salary: £50K – £60K + 12% pension, life insurance and more.

Are you someone who loves our planet and wants to do good in a role with a biodiversity-focused global organisation?

Would you like to do more with your technical skills? Are you somebody who’s dreamed of working to support and connect people and systems for the benefit of species conservation? Read on.

Thankfully, as you read this there are organisations already working on deeply detailed and technical systems aimed at recovering and regenerating ecosystems. These are essential in promoting collaboration and preventing biodiversity loss or limiting loss in scenarios where it is unavoidable.

These systems range from databases on endangered species and key biodiversity areas to things like tracking pollution, monitoring species and the recovery of regions or sites. They are integrated into companies, governments and organisations all over the world and help all to understand how ecosystems interact and influence one another and how we, as humans, can protect them.

A passion for nature or the environment more broadly will serve you well here, as a conservation org. they are hyper-focused on impact and making their work accessible, integrating partners and customers into their platform to expand who is making use of this data for decision-making.

The CIO here has real ambitions to see the tech evolve across this 2,000+ people org with ~10 regional offices and teams spread more broadly than that across biodiversity hotspots (physical & political). That includes hardware, software, data science, and the whole shebang.

So, what will you be doing specifically?

Building and maintaining the tech foundation that underpins a key database and platform. This will include investigating issues and implementing fixes to build in resilience and remove points of failure. You’ll also bring documentation up to standard; much was completed by consultants and wasn’t always updated by internal members of the team so there is some work to do in enabling the evolution of this platform and this may include switching to Python and Django or other technologies in the longer-term – 2+ years.

The skills priorities are Ruby on Rails and exp building APIs, exp with geospatial data and GIS tools is highly desirable. The role will be 80:20 backend : frontend, with some infrastructure and security tasks in there.

There are a number of partners who collaborate on various other interlinked tools, so cross-team collaboration experience will be beneficial. If you’ve touched on security or some DevOps tools and cloud technologies, but not extensively, there is support to grow your knowledge – in the form of partners/teammates and funding for courses, textbooks or other materials if needed.

It’s a small team of ~5, including the systems manager, that is part of a broader conservation tech ecosystem of 5-6 other teams and systems that occasionally collaborate or share resources, including with some of those partner orgs.

You’ll be involved with the design, review code and work closely with, scientists, ecologists, and climate researchers, prioritise work and engage some stakeholders or 3rd parties, also some internal teams such as GIS and data analysts and program managers to support them in delivering projects across various tiers of the conservation sector.

Interested in addressing biodiversity loss and turning things around? Do say hello 😊.

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect, regardless of background.

International Data Consultant

Role: International Data Consultant

Location: Hybrid – offices in Stratford-Upon-Avon

Salary: £25K-£27K with a 10% additional bonus

Are you someone who appreciates how valuable accurate and reliable data is? Do you see yourself working with data to help make the world a better place? If you’ve started your journey in data and are looking to progress your skills with a well-established company that puts data at the core of its values, look no further.

I’m currently working with an environmental consultancy that prides itself on being the hardest workers in sustainability. They offer a variety of consultancy services to large UK and international blue-chip companies that need help with their waste disposal and compliance concerns. They’re divided into four different divisions, but the main teams are Data Insights and International Compliance.  The level of progression is excellent as they’re a big company that is constantly growing!

With that in mind, I’m looking for a talented, bright person to join their international data team as a Data Consultant. The role has come about as they are opening the position for their Global Reporting division in North America. The role will find you working with data and reports for international customers, ensuring that the information submitted by Account Managers is up to the highest quality and standard practices. This also includes ensuring submissions are sent within the deadline, all the key figures such as packaging weight and units are all measured correctly, and Data cleansing and maintenance. Essentially, you’ll be the spot-check guru who ensures everything necessary is covered in each submission!

This role requires great attention to detail. Someone with perception and an eagle eye for anomalies is an essential requirement.

If you’ve got previous experience in data analytics and research, be it through your degree (STEM subjects are appreciated, but anything data-related goes! This could be Maths, Geography, any Sciences etc.), or through your work experience as an analyst or a consultant.

A lot of the spreadsheets will be deployed in Excel, so if you’re a nerd with this you could be a good fit J But it’s also important that you can communicate effectively with different customers and colleagues when it is required.

The role has the opportunity to be fully remote, however, they do have an office in Stratford Upon Avon, and team inclusivity is something they do admire so someone who can come into the office would be valued!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

C# Web Developer

Role: C# Web Developer

Salary: £35K – £45K + 25 days holiday, pension, free parking, easily commutable via public transport.

Location: Beeston, Nottingham. flexible hours and remote working arrangements- can be fully remote, or hybrid in the office, depending on your preference.

Working with a fabulous company in Nottingham, I am looking for a talented and enthusiastic C# Developer to join their growing team! The reason for this role is that the company has recently won several meaty contracts; they haven’t got enough capacity existing in-house to get everything done that they want to, so are bringing more people on board.

They are a software agency company that works with many different clients, so the work is varied and interesting. It encourages a collaborative culture where everyone works together on several different tasks concurrently, so it’s important that everyone there is easy to get along with and works well together- and they do!

They have a beautiful office to work in and some very intelligent and experienced people there that you can both learn from and contribute your ideas.   It’s encouraged and appreciated.  They look after their team and have a really low staff turnover as a result- they go on team social events frequently (sometimes, it’s just a trip down to the pub, and sometimes it’s a team day out), bond inside and outside work, and have an open and friendly work culture.

Technically, I am looking for someone with a great background in C# web development; with demonstrable experience of being in a dedicated developer role, using C# as your primary language.  You would require demonstrable development experience with C# and the Microsoft web and Azure cloud stack, using mainly C#, .Net Core, SQL Server, Azure, and React/ Angular, with a desire to be part of a tight-knit team and produce great solutions!

To rock this role, you’ll have advanced knowledge of MS SQL/SQL Server and good knowledge of HTML5/JavaScript or TypeScript.  They use a mix of React and Angular; if you’ve used either of these, that’s a bonus!  You’ll write clean, modular, reusable, and well-documented code, and liaise with your team and the company at large to create the best solutions for their clients.  You will test, recommend and implement new technologies, and keep up to date with the latest software development technologies and methodologies.

The salary on offer for the role is around the £35-45k mark, plus many other benefits like flexible working arrangements, 25 days’ annual leave, which increases by 1 day with each year of service, workplace pension and enhanced benefits on performance, to name but a few!

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect, regardless of background.

You must be a UK resident and eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this role.

Technical Architect

Role:  Technical Architect

Location:  Fully Remote

Salary:  £80-100K

Your mission, should you choose to accept it:

A growing EdTech business is seeking your help designing and implementing cutting-edge solutions with .NET and Azure.

You’ll join a team fuelled by a shared passion for innovation and a commitment to prioritising high-quality work.

Being the only Architect in the engineering team means you’ll take ownership of the company’s technical direction, produce high-level designs and PoCs, and work with the engineers to implement your technical vision.

Ideally, you’ll have experience with .NET 6 or newer, Azure, microservices architecture, event-driven design, Entity Framework and Blazor.

The business has created a politics-free environment where good people collaborate to create great software. They’re a very flexible business and this role will be fully remote with no set expectations of working hours except to attend meetings. You’ve got the responsibility for your own work time!

The salary range for this role is £80-100,000 and includes other benefits of fully remote and flexible working, 25 days annual leave (+ bank holidays), company pension, and a health insurance scheme.

Business Development Manager

Role:  Business Development Manager

Location:  Fully Remote

Salary:  Up to £45K

You’re a hunter.  You get your kicks from finding opportunities others can’t.  You’re a relationship builder, someone who loves solving customer problems, especially when you are selling health-tech solutions that are genuinely transformational within uncrowded, competitive environments.

We’re hiring for a Business Development Manager within an established health-tech company that has been around for over 20 years. It’s easy to get left with the times in healthcare, but not these guys. They’re constantly evolving, and adapting to new cloud-based SaaS solutions.

Historically, their sales team combined new business and account management. Now, as more products go live and their client database grows, they’re looking for someone with more of a new business focus. They’re currently a small but tight-knit remote team, where they consider their employees as names, not numbers. You’ll be a part of an inclusive and rewarding company culture that supports your hard work – most people tend to stay for 5+ years.

You’ll be selling a suite of 3 products, including their newest digital offering. If you’re someone who’s worked in MedTech / Healthtech before you’ll likely already have an understanding of their industry and the need for their solutions.

They’re currently working with over 10 different NHS trusts around the UK and have amassed around 50% of the market under the NHS. That other 50%? It’s at your fingertips! There are also private sector clients to work with, and your job is to develop and implement strategy plans to secure new contracts.

I’m looking for someone who:

  • Can develop strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Can present products to prospective customers.
  • Works a CRM like magic
  • Isn’t afraid to pick up the phone.
  • Keeps up high standards and executes campaigns to generate new leads.
  • Collaborates well with others to ensure smooth handovers of contracts and accounts.
  • Loves industry conferences!

The salary basic is up to £35k – 45k, with a brilliant commission system and bonuses all around (you can double your salary and more – no joke). Hmm, what else? Oh, there’s also a company car or electric car scheme.

Does this role sound like you? Get in touch for a guaranteed reply.

We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect regardless of background.

Does making a difference matter to you? Does Education float your boat? If so, carry on reading.

For this role, you must have worked in the Education sector within a school, preferably at a Trust level. However, working at a Trust level is a nice to have, rather than a necessity.

You will make sure that their platforms are secure and create a roadmap for their DevSecOps strategy that will ensure good growth and scalability for their platforms. You will be expected to keep up with current technological trends to be able to advise on new products, services, and other technologies, and implement them into the roadmap, so it’s always up-to-date and fit for purpose.

Further, you’ll hold regular workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions on cyber security best practices to disseminate this knowledge throughout the company to encourage prevention and awareness – prevention is always better than cure!

Your leadership experience will stand you in good stead here- you will be leading one person directly under your charge, and an external SOC (Security Operations Centre), initially. You will then build out a team around you further down the line.
