Job type: Full Time

GreenTech Senior QA Engineer

GreenTech Senior QA Engineer

Location: Remote within the UK

Salary: Up to 65K + equity & benefits, inc wellbeing allowance, pension & more.

Food waste accounts for roughly 8% of all global emissions. Between one-third and half of all food grown never enters a mouth, some rots in fields, some in warehouses, and lots goes furry at home or is sent to landfill.

Leading more sustainable lives isnt hard but changing behaviours can be.

How would you like to make it easy for folks to adapt those troublesome behaviours, with incredible social and environmental benefits?

Were working with a company tackling waste; food waste, furniture, books, equipment, clothing, you get the idea take resources that some people need, where others have plenty and create a space where both sides win.

Theyre already a global success with their web and mobile app live in ~140 countries.

Theyve always been remote and do a lot to ensure their teams are not just succeeding in work but are genuinely happy, rather than overstretched.

Youll be working with a technical team of around 25, growing to around 40 in the coming 12-18 months, where every single person on the team contributes their own ideas, has a shared goal for the platform and most importantly, wants to increase impact.

As a Senior QA Engineer you wont be having bugs, fixes or problems thrown at you. Rather youll be supporting the dev team to improve the quality of their testing, looking at how to automate out human error, contributing toward test strategy for growing to 10 million+ users in 12 months time, with ambitious aims through the rest of this Decade of Action.

Their tech stack includes a lot of Javascript, or Flow to be specific, ReactJS and React Native, Ruby on Rails, AWS with things like EC2, Lambdas, ECS, CICD with Circle CI, Terraform, Docker and more.

Priorities for this role are Javascript automation testing with Cypress, although experience working with React Native, iOS or Android mobile apps will stand out and good experience with exploratory testing is important.

So, youll do the heavy lifting when it comes to the more technical elements of QA, but youll also have a DevOps engineer to lean on and the 3 existing QA Engineers to understand how theyve gotten to where they are and thats certainly not a bad place.

But Im sure you can appreciate when a mobile and web app goes from having 6 million users, to aiming for 10, 20, 30 million users in the near future across global regions and varied infrastructure capabilities, there are some challenges.

So, if youve worked on web and mobile software with large volumes of users, lots of data being shared across systems and a scaling mindset, this one could be a good fit.

Now, the company aim to find people who are genuinely passionate about making our world a better place, theyll want to hear about why and what that means to you, and how youve engaged with the climate crisis or other social issues, but they also appreciate that many issues are systemic and while we have our part to play, that doesnt always mean buying an EV or solar panels.

SQL Support Analyst

Role: SQL Support Analyst

Location: You can be based from home with travel into Warwickshire once a month

Salary: £30k to £38k per annum (plus up to 10% bonus)

Data focused application support analysts, the world is burning and it’s time for you to step in! *cue hero music*

No more FinTech nonsense, no more going into the office every single day or else, no more being pushed around by a boss that doesn’t understand what you do….

“You aren’t doing your computer thingy quick enough…blah…money…blah blah…money”

It’s time to be a part of an organization set up to save the environment, one gram of waste at a time.

How?

By making sure that all the big names are complying with relevant environmental regulations and laws, and providing insights to the wider world about plastic waste.

In a perfect world customers use their software platforms without a hitch. Everything works perfectly and no-one is left wanting for anything.

However, in this cruel world we live in, software doesn’t always work as intended! Or customers have bespoke needs that need to be addressed.

This is where you come in. The hero of the hour (with Sql and Excel muscles rippling through your T-shirt).

Our perfect hero:

LOVES working with data.

Is like a child with tinsel at Christmas when it comes to automation, you want to put it EVERYWHERE.

Says stuff like “Look at these idiots plodding along with manual processes, I could just automate that”.

Falls in love with SQL (T-Sql ideally) more and more each day

Is the best ‘Excel’ person within their family/circle of friends

Ad hoc reporting whilst in the middle of a task makes your blood boil, but you can grit your teeth and get it done rather quickly…with a smile (fake or real, it doesn’t matter)

Can test stuff really well. In fact, you test to such a high degree that you know for a fact once it’s left your hands you know you are never seeing it again because that’s how perfect it is. Mummy would be so proud.

So how much is this hero going to get paid? £30k to £38k per annum (plus up to 10% bonus).

You can be based from home with travel into Warwickshire once a month or so (you’ll need to drive though, as the buses don’t reach this part of the world!).

So, if you want to know more give us a call or apply for a swift reply.

…and if you don’t want to know more then move along and click on the next advert. You’re clearly not the hero I need.

Ouch.

Native Android Mobile Developer

Role: Native Android Mobile Developer

Location: Loughborough, with up to 4 days per week WFH (working from home)

Salary: up to £60k plus benefits

Would you like to be a part of a small-but-growing company that makes really cool software and hardware for athletes?

Would it be nice to feel a part of something bigger than you, where your work really matters?

Are you at an agency and fed up with churning out small projects that you never see again?

If your answer to all, or some, of the above questions, is a hearty ‘YES!’ then read on…

I am working with a company who are going places and need you to join them to get them there faster!

I’m after a Native Android Mobile Developer to join their team, working alongside a lovely native iOS Developer, to add cool new features to their mobile application, predominantly using Kotlin.

You’ll mostly be focussing on the UI / Front End side of the mobile app, as that’s where most of their work to be done is, currently. So, an eye for a good layout and user-friendliness is going to be useful!

Due to the nature of what they do, they use Bluetooth tech, mainly BLE, so any experience or knowledge of this would be great!

They are a small, fun team who gets along well and love what they do. They meet up in the Loughborough office every week and so would love you to come in with the same frequency, too, to keep the community feeling they’ve got going on!

If this sounds right up your street, apply now or drop me a line to find out more!

UI/UX Designer

Role: UI/ UX Designer

Location/ working arrangement: Nottingham City Centre office/ hybrid working model- ideally 1 day or more per week in the office

Salary: up to £55k plus benefits including 27 days holiday (excluding bank holidays), 5% pension contribution, healthcare, etc.

Industry: FinTech

Would you love to work in a small team of really lovely, supportive and talented people? Want to be surrounded by people who care about doing things the right way and for the right reasons? Love new tech and want to use the latest and greatest?

Then here you go- your ideal role is here! 😀

I’m looking for UI/ UX Designer for a truly wonderful company, that I love recruiting for.

The text above describes them very well; they are a FinTech company who have great financial backing, a great company vibe, latest tech and interesting work.

They are after someone to, in a solo capacity, look after their UI/ UX tasks, including duties such as rapidly prototyping and iterating high-quality, intuitive and mobile-first designs for a cross-platform app, based on user/client feedback and market research, that are easily consumed by the development team, actively carrying out user research and competitor analysis, and looking after the company’s flagship website to make sure it’s attracting prospective clients and customers.

They would really like to see people who have a passion for creating value for their customers, with fabulous practical design skills for things including layout, colour, typography & responsive design (ideally demonstrated through a strong design portfolio). You’ll also have demonstrable experience of techniques and artifacts needed to communicate & deliver effectively , for example; personas, journey maps, wireframes, flows, information architecture, UI designs, prototypes etc. Finally, in terms of tech, they’d love to see experience with using a range of design tools; Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Hotjar etc.

They work in a proper Agile way, so experience and comfort working in this environment are paramount (seems like this shouldn’t be something I shouldn’t have to specify in this day and age, but there are so many companies out there that have adapted Agile so significantly that it’s something akin to FRAgile haha!)

They really do care their people, and so passion, effective communication, and a great attitude for everyone they bring into the company are necessary attributes to have. Enthusiasm, a curious and entrepreneurial nature, and a desire to make the best software in the best way and for the right reasons are paramount in this role.

If this sounds lovely to you, then get in touch or apply now

Senior Full Stack C# Blazor Software Engineer

Role: Senior Full Stack C# Blazor Software Engineer

Location: Hammersmith, London is where their office is, but the role can either be hybrid if you live nearby and want to go in, or fully remote if you don’t live close by or just don’t want to go into the office!

Salary: up to £90k

How does a Senior C# Software Engineer role with brand new tech, complete flexibility around working arrangements, only greenfield work to do, and lots of financial backing sound to you?

Too good to be true?

Well, you better believe it because IT IS TRUE 🙂

I’m working with a brilliant, small but growing company who are looking to build a development team. They have a Lead Dev joining them in a month’s time, and so I’m now looking for another couple of devs to join them. It’s a magical time to join them in their journey!

The company is around 6 years old and is in the private GP space. They were, before the pandemic, completely an in-person GP service. During the pandemic, the business grew exponentially through offering Covid testing at a time of great need, and now as we come through the other side of Covid, they have realised that patients’ situations have changed and more and more people want a seamless experience of what they want when and where they want it; a blending between virtual appointments (phone/ video calls), online bookings, and in-person appointments.

So this is where they are headed, and they need you to help make it happen!

The initial work they have is to build out two main systems- one internal and one external. Do not fear though, they have plenty of work to do for the medium and long term after these projects are completed!

The tech stack they use is; C# .Net Core, Blazor, Entity Framework, HTML/CSS, JavaScript/ TypeScript, React/ Vue.

The beauty of the role is the autonomy over projects, trust, and the massive amount of input you’ll have in technical decision-making here.

It is a very small team right now, so you’ll need to be experienced enough to be happy working on your own with support from their Lead Developer. You can put ALL the skills you’ve got into practice here- no pigeon-holing or red tape preventing you from what you want to do, no waiting for months to get a new feature added- they are small and nimble, and very able and willing to move quickly and do things the right way.

The founder comes across as a very intelligent, friendly and likeable chap with a great vision for the company and the offering they have for their patients.

If this sounds like something you’d love to be a part of or to find out more about, drop me a line and we can get the ball rolling on your new role!

Business Analyst

Role – Business Analyst

Location – Nottingham, hybrid working – 2 days per week in the office.

Package – Up to 55k

Are you analytically minded, have a passion for user stories and are looking to work on a product that you can be passionate about? If so, please read on…

Who will you be working with? Well, they are the relatively new kids on the block! As a business, they deliver fresh and innovative cloud-based solutions to the construction and manufacturing sectors.

This is a brand-new role, so there is an opportunity for you to put your stamp on things. You will be able to add value from day one, sharing your wealth of experience with the business. One thing that is important, is the ability to work in an agile environment.

You will perform detailed business and process/systems analysis, and document functional and non-functional requirements in the form of user stories in Jira/Confluence, so you must have worked with this software previously.

If you are a shrinking violet, this isn’t the role for you as you will be dealing with a variety of people across the team from developers to the scrum master to ensure the team understand underlying requirements to ensure business requirements are met. Collaboration is key, as you will be joining a small team and self-motivation is a must.

If you have worked with software before this will be an advantage, however, it is nice to have and if you have experience within other fields, they will still consider you, so don’t let this put you off. You will have a passion for complex problem solving and you will have the ability to learn new skills quicker than you can say, business analyst!!!

As the head office is based outside of the UK, you will be required to travel overseas once every 8 weeks! So if travel isn’t your thing, this may not be the role for you.

If you’d like to find out more, drop me a line, give me a call or hit the apply button!

Senior Biodiversity Modelling Scientist

Senior Biodiversity Modelling Scientist (Marine & Terrestrial Land Use)

Location: Hybrid, Cambridge – two to four days per month.
Salary: up to £54K + 12% pension, private healthcare and life insurance.

Key skills: programming and data modelling, fund-raising, publishing in scientific journals

How would you like to use your data modelling skills to influence global strategies toward stabilising our climate and repairing the damage we’ve done?

When it comes to climate and the effect human activities are having it’s clear we need a better understanding of our actions and their outcomes, including solutions and how, when or where to implement them for maximum effect.

This role will require candidates to have a PhD or have been published in scientific journals, as it’s a science-heavy role where studies and results will be published, and knowledge of that world is essential in having the influence that is needed across the global community.

This isn’t a traditional data scientist role. It’ll include leading fundraising efforts and candidates will need to demonstrate having put together some successful proposals and understand the process of closing a funding deal.

Networking and building partnerships with people across conservation organisations will also be a part of this role once you’re settled, including at conferences and heavy collaboration with partners on systems modelling for global, regional and sometimes nationally focused projects.

So, varied is a fair description and it’s quite essential for you to have worked with international organisations in some capacity, as there are hundreds of partners you’ll provide data services for.

Alongside that, you’ll do the stuff you’re no doubt excited by;

✊  Advancing biodiversity futures modelling capabilities and developing projects in the field.

✊  Developing a strategy for future modelling, considering what we need to prioritise to have a maximum impact globally and regionally.

✊  Lead high-profile modelling and analysis projects in line with a global vision of Science Innovation.

You’ll model biodiversity and ecosystem futures scenarios, considering large and small factors that contribute to climate change, and establishing patterns and potentially unknown values in the data you wrangle.

An understanding of (or experience with) ecological models in terrestrial or marine environments or exp. with statistical biodiversity, models are also quite key.

Technically you’ll need to show familiarity or experience with R, Python, C++, Matlab or other tools and tech used for data science. Experience or understanding of remote sensing is also necessary.

Spoken languages are super helpful because of the diverse international nature of the teams and organisations you’ll support.

They will be open to people with commercial experience working in relevant fields, so long as you can demonstrate how human activities impact species, regions or specific environments.

You’ll help to build accurate predictions of outcomes and build valuable data insights into the critical databases the organisation manage, which include areas of high scientific value, unique biodiversity, endangered species, resource trafficking and more.

Your colleagues will be dedicated and highly qualified. Eager to share their knowledge and absorb yours. The organisation love people with great initiative and a desire to forge careers on their own terms.

They’ll support you in learning new skills, and pay for resources whether that be books, online courses or conference tickets, but they need people who are driven and can make suggestions based on self-learning or networks and events. Those aren’t essential, but folks who can contribute in many ways will always stand out.

The initial work they have is to build out two main systems- one internal and one external. You’ll mainly be working on the external app, using Vue. If you’ve used Vue or React, and are happy to use Vue moving forwards, that’s fine by them as they are quite similar.

Do not fear though, they have plenty of work to do for the medium and long term after these projects are completed!

Full Stack Software Engineer

Role: Full Stack Software Engineer

Location/ working arrangement: Nottingham City Centre/ fully remote- NO regular office visits

Salary: up to £60k plus great benefits and 20%+ bonus

Hello there!

I am lucky to have some really great roles with a lovely FinTech company in Nottingham, who have fully embraced proper fully remote working (or what is sometimes also called remote first/ fully distributed working model) to make the work/ life balance of their employees as good as possible.

They are great to recruit for, and to work for there is really interesting and rewarding work that adheres to best practices, a bunch of really friendly and welcoming people who are fantastic at what they do, and great benefits that make you feel looked after, properly flexible working practices, and a company that does the right thing.

The only downside to them that I’m aware of is that they are in a regulated industry and so might not be for everyone. They are also a medium-sized company, so again, if you’re after a brand-new start-up or a large corporate, they won’t be the one for you.

They use C# .Net Core and JavaScript/ TypeScript for their full-stack development, with Node and React as their JS/ TS frameworks/ libraries of choice. Azure is their public cloud provider of choice and they use it heavily, so all their technical roles are great for cloud exposure, if this is something you’re after in your next role.

As they are growing and will continue to grow, at a relatively rapid rate, the progression routes with them are really fabulous- they encourage an entrepreneurial spirit amongst their teams, and ideas to move the company or culture forward are very welcomed.

If this sounds good to you, apply now or drop me a line to find out more
