There’s certainly no shortage of cloud engineering roles these days.

So, if we’re being realistic, what sets those roles apart? Is it the money? The challenge? Company brand? Maybe it’s bean bag chairs, an office dog, pool tables, and being able to wear your crocs in the office?

What if it there was a role that had all of that? Well, y’know, they’re a bit iffy when it comes to the crocs, but you understood my question. It’d be quite cool right?

With a brand that extends across the globe, it would be fair to say that this is the company that provides the FinTech solutions that power everything else when it comes to FinTech. They create solutions that power the way the entire western world views finance.

They’ve fully embraced cloud technologies, and the things that they’ve achieved – and hope to achieve – will change that even more…but there’s a slight problem.

They don’t have you.

But why would you join them? Well, apart from amazing benefits, a great salary, and a level of support, progression, and development that is basically unmatched by all others in their market, they can offer you the one thing that really counts: the change to create something truly unique!

They are one of the only companies in the UK that are utilising and implementing cloud solutions across every major platform at this scale. AWS, Azure, GCP, AliCloud…if it exists, it’s likely they’ve built platforms around it.

The team currently sits at a pretty steady number, and they’ve recently another 2 cloud experts to the team, but now they need someone capable of getting stuck in with their AWS or either Azure platforms.

They’re a tech agnostic business, but right now they need specialists, and they’ll give you plenty of opportunities to progress your career and take up either AWS or Azure Architecture role later down the line. You can still play with the other tech too, obviously – people that love to learn and pick up new technology fit in super well here.

Initially, you’ll be working on building and implementing cloud platforms using data and services that are being migrated from on-prem to cloud. This’ll involve a bit of work in terms of landing zones and communicating with the DevSecOps team in order to make sure it goes smoothly, but they’ve already started to make some headway with this.

It's a sizeable organisation, so this may not be the best place for people who want to shy away or hide in the corner. You don’t have to be the life of the party, but from time to time they’d like your input on the important stuff, and they want to make sure people are comfortable doing that.

There’s not a long list of requirements to “pass the test”, but here’s a few things that might make your first couple of months a bit easier:

  • You know your way around either AWS or Azure ecosystem, and when it comes to DevOps principles, you’re a real stickler for the details
  • You’re a true advocate for either AWS or Azure! They want people to be the real champions of their chosen technology.
  • Great communication skills are also key. They’re a team, and it’s important to them that you’re included in discussions that drive the business – that also means they’ll want your input when it really counts!
