Senior Performance Test Engineer - £40K - £59K + bonus
Headline: Take responsibility for internal performance testing, establish strategy and advise on technology and tooling as you take over from consultants on-site. Provide mentoring and coaching to other performance testers, one current and future testers through expansion.
Location: Coventry
Package: Up to £59K
Ideal candidate: You’ve worked in some different environments, seen the different approaches companies take to performance testing and know a variety of tools so you can help point towards the best options worth investing in and have confidence in delivering coaching and training to others.

Going for a new role in Performance Testing can be a bit of a nightmare. Specs and adverts are vague and it’s tough to know exactly what you’re walking in to as a lot of HR departments and recruiters don’t fully understand what you do or why it’s a niche within testing.

What if there was a role with a company who legitimately care about your development and work-life balance? Where you work 35-hour weeks and can log in from the comfort of your bed a couple of times per week (if that’s your style)? What if you were going to be involved with defining the performance test strategy and helping decide which tools and technologies should be invested in?

Based in Coventry this company have spent the last three decades working hard to climb the ladder in their sector to offer their customers some of the best options available in their market, products and services their customers can be confident in because the company have real people and their lives at the heart of all they do.

They need someone who has experience establishing strategies for providing as much coverage across performance testing as possible. Someone who can communicate with senior stakeholders both techies and non-techies alike.

Some skills they’ll be looking out for:

  • Understanding of test environment architecture - Servers, applications and databases.
  • Experience establishing test standards and documentation.
  • Ideally experience with a variety of tools, but niche experience won’t rule you out!
  • Agile experience is ideal, but waterfall experience would be considered too.

Ideally, you’ll have some exposure to things like automation testing but really the main priority here is finding someone who has done a multitude of non-functional testing, using different tools and methods to test the level of intensity a site or piece of software can withstand. As the customer base is always growing the level of testing needed is set to continue growing. The tech team here have been expanding steadily for several years as they look to fully embrace technology in every aspect of their offering.

So, whether you’ve used JMeter, NeoLoad, LoadRunner, LoadUI or any other amalgamation of tools, it would be worth getting in touch if you want to work somewhere you’re treated like a human, invested in and respected.

They have a decent budget for training and development, bonuses up to around 12% and home working 2 days a week as well as much more.
