Database Administrator

full time

Headline: Data, Data, Data!! Love immersing yourself in data all day long? If so this could be the role for you!!

Location: Leicester

Package: Up to 50k

Data, Data and more Data. You’ve been living and breathing these three words for the better part of your career.

Like The Faraway Tree book, (yes the one by Enid Blyton!!) you could have your pick of places you could go.

So, why should you come here?

After bringing their IT department out of the dark ages, they are following the light and moving into the future with their IT systems. To make your life easier, they have had a very kind individual who has cleaned up all the real messy data, giving you a clean sweep to get started with, rather than coming into the business and being up to your armpits in it literally!!!

Projects, you are going to be thrown in, not literally at the deep end! Yet the chances are endless to broaden your knowledge and skills set. Now that the data has been tidied up, it gives you the chance to create and test new databases, as well as improving existing databases.

It’s a close-knit team who love getting stuck in and supporting each other, so this probably isn’t the right contract for someone who’s looking for a hands-off role.

At a glance it would be nice if you had any of the following:

  • Microsoft SQL, including SSRS, SSIS, T-SQL
  • Database design
  • Database management

“What’s the catch?” I hear you ask. Fine, I knew you were too smart to hide something from.

If collaboration isn’t your middle name, then this probably isn’t the role for you, as you will be presenting your ideas to the team, and yes there may be criticism or questioning with regards to your methods and ideas. You need to be able to not throw your dummy out of the pram so to speak and to work together to move the role forwards!
