C# Developer - Lincoln
Headline: Fancy leading a team of software developers in creating some of the best GIS-infused asset management software on the market? Well then, this one's for you!
Location: Lincoln, Lincolnshire
Salary: £35,000 - 45,000 + benefits + flexible working
Ideal Candidate: You'll be determined to tackle the tricky problems, have a love of mathematics and new technologies, and will have an infectious level of enthusiasm when it comes to development.
GIS and LIDAR are interesting tools, aren't they? Used by many, but played with very rarely. The potential for their application is limitless, and this Lincoln-based company have built their reputation (and the business) upon that very fact.
They're an asset management company. No, not the boring financial asset management stuff that every accountant has installed on their 10 year old Dell. Proper asset management software. They work with government agencies, defence contractors, international planning companies, and far too many others to list. If you've ever wondered how roads are planned, construction sites are designed, and how things like Smart Motorways are actually designed and implemented, you've probably already thought about these guys - you just don't know it yet.
So what do they need, and why are they recruiting? Well, for starters they're looking for a proper nerd. You'll love the 'what', 'why', and 'how' aspects of modern software engineering, and will still get that giddy feeling when you help to create a beautiful piece of software - because you know it was you who created it! They'll give you all the tools you need to do this, and in exchange they'll expect you to bring that passion and enthusiasm to the team and drive forward some of their biggest technological changes yet. Those changes? That's entirely up to you.
The position has come up due to growth, and there'll be ample opportunities to build a massive team around you (or a smaller one, if you're that way inclined). Being based in infrastructure and construction, these guys are rock solid (painful pun intended), and can offer a stable career with excellent progression opportunities. They value their developers, and everyone else who makes what they do possible, and you'll be provided with excellent benefits as well as all the tools you need to do what you do best - create amazing software!
They're not bothered about boring job specs, or a list of "requirements" as long as my repertoire of terrible construction puns. What they would like, though, is for you to:
- Be a real whizz with C#/ASP.NET
- Have at least some knowledge of GIS and LIDAR
- You know what you're doing when it comes to complex mathematics
- A knack for seeing projects impartially. You'll know when you're doing the right thing, and how to take advantage of that, but you'll also be prepared to scrap an idea that just isn't working.
