Software developer

Headline: A scientific company is looking to expand their experienced development team, if youve got experience in C# and SQL Server, and would like to work on the companys largest ever software projects then read on!

Location: Coventry (parking on site available and walking distance from a train station)

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 including an incredible benefits package

Ideal candidate: A C# / Sql Server software developer with at least 3 yearsexperience who is used to working on complex upgrade/migration projects.

We visited this company earlier this week and having spoken to their team its clear that this is a super-friendly, close-knit team where the average length of tenure is close to 10 years. The company works in the scientific industry, so youll be sharing the office with a real diverse bunch of people, from lab technicians, office workers, project managers and of course other developers.

This role would suit someone who is first and foremost a developer who loves understanding problems and figuring out how things need to work by talking to people, rather than someone who is purely a coder. Their software environment is very complex, diverse and modular, so you could be working on upgrading a troublesome Winforms application one week through to developing a new portal in ASP.NET MVC the next.

Moving forwards the company have a major overhaul of their systems planned this year, with the company moving to newer .NET / Javascript technologies, and you will be front and centre in this project alongside a couple of other senior developers. They mainly follow Agile practices and are always open to new ideas to improve delivery and performance, so youll be encouraged to share your ideas and collaborate here.

In terms of your skills, you will ideally have proven knowledge in C# with a solid knowledge in MS SQL. You dont need Winforms experience as most of the current work will be with ASP.NET/MVC. Alternatively, a strong Sql Server Developer with some C# skills will also be considered.

Good communication skills will be required as youll have a lot of contact with on-site users, making use of good investigation skills to help identify problems users will experience on a day to day basis.

You will be expected to take a lot of initiative in this role, helping to push newer ideas and help to customize software to meet the users needs.

On offer is a salary up to £45k + an amazing benefits package which includes adoption/maternity leave and various bonuses on offer plus flexible working, on site car parking and the chance to work from home if/when needed.

If this sounds like youre cup of tea, dont hesitate to get in touch!
