Network Engineer

Summary: Looking to join a fast growing, organisation, who are keen to double in size over the next year? Have experience with CISCO and keen to gain experience with a cyber security company? If you answered yes to these, I am currently recruiting for a Network Security Engineer, however please note there will be on call responsibilities, generally 1 week a month (after your initial six months)

Location:  Nottingham

Salary: Up to 45k (potentially higher for the right candidate!!)

Ideal Candidate:

The main focus of your role will be to deploy and implement, security monitoring and detection technologies across their client base, as well as maintain these to ensure they work effectively.

The main things that you will take responsibility for are:

  • Design and implement all security platforms and their associated software.
  • Ensure best practices are undertaken and conduct periodic vulnerability testing.
  • Manage all client situations in a professional manner.
  • Liaise with all other teams on the security related issues.

Core Competencies:

  • Experience with security technologies including SIEMs, Carbon Black, Darktrace, Qualys and other leading equivalents.
  • Knowledge of security network devices (firewalls, switches, SIEM, Antivirus, cryptography, etc.) and other security networking hardware/software tools.
  • Understanding of information security concepts, standards, practices, including but not limited to firewalls, intrusion prevention and detection, TCP/IP and related protocols, device monitoring and log management and event monitoring/reporting
  • Experience in LAN and WAN technologies, network design, network management etc. 
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, access control lists, firewalls, VPN, NAT and network traffic analysis. 


You will ideally hold a professional certification which can include; CCNP, CISSP, SSCP, CEH, GIAC, Security+, OSCP, a degree in Information Systems, or Computer Science.


Experience within information technology security and experience with deploying and implementing security monitoring technologies would be beneficial.
