Linux Systems Administrator / Lead Server and Storage Engineer
Location: Derby (close to Markeaton park)
Required experience:  Linux and some Windows Server knowledge, Programming / Automation (ideally Bash, or similar etc), Agile, Build / Release / Testing and interest in DevOps / Infrastructure Development!
Desirable experience: API exp. Configuration management, Exp. with hybrid cloud platforms,
Salary: £35K-£44k basic, 30 days holiday (+ bank hols), pension, bonus scheme + more.

Working with a well-known Derby organisation that have had a recent spurt of growth and innovation over the last 2 years we’re working on a role with a lot of room to develop your personal skills through the projects you’ll work on, and also through the training budget for attending conferences, events and educational achievements.

They’re willing to consider anybody who is looking to step into DevOps who has dabbled with some of those skills already. Perhaps you’ve designed a suite / tool to automate the deployments of your software, or you’re always looking for ways to improve efficiency and delivery times, and maybe you enjoy automating alerts and processes to make sure the real priorities are getting the attention they deserve.

Some key skills:

  • Automation scripting, ideally Bash; Powershell, C# or similar maybe useful too.
  • Linux (Redhat) experience, some Windows Server exp. and HyperV or VMWare.
  • Network monitoring, high availability.

Any CICD and experience working with APIs or experience with Hybrid Cloud platforms would be great. Experience or understand of infrastructure as code will also make you stand out as you’ll be accountable for the implementation and deployment of software onto servers. You’ll be involved with the continuous integration as updates, additional functionality and patches are completed.

You’ll be working in a small, highly skilled team as part of a larger IT function, to deliver seamless systems and deliver an outstanding level of service to customers.
